Brainspotting Intensives

Why Brainspotting Intensives?

Concentrating brainspotting sessions into a few intensive days can significantly accelerate your progress and healing. This deep, focused immersion often leads to rapid shifts, helping you reach your goals in days rather than months.

Many people choose intensives over weekly or bi-weekly sessions because:

  • They have time-sensitive goals and want to move forward quickly

  • Their work schedules don’t allow for weekly appointments

  • They feel stuck in treatment or haven’t made progress within the traditional 50-minute model

  • They want to continue working with their regular therapist, but would like to incorporate brainspotting to resolve a specific issue

  • They’re tired of feeling stuck and are ready to dive in and create meaningful, lasting change

What do intensives look like?

Step 1

I offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation to determine whether intensive sessions are a good fit for you. During this time, we’ll review factors such as trauma history, dissociation, current life circumstances, past therapy experiences, and coping strategies. If needed, we may schedule a few 60-minute brainspotting or general preparation sessions first to see how you respond before beginning the intensive work.

Step 2

You’ll receive guidance on how to prepare, tools for coping, and an overview of what to expect during your session. You’ll also complete a detailed intake form, which helps me tailor everything in advance so we can make the most of our time together.

Step 4

In the days following your intensive, I’ll be available to answer any questions, and many clients notice positive effects immediately. A few days later, we’ll have a complimentary follow-up phone call. Some people choose to complete multiple intensives, while for others, a single session is enough to achieve their goals or jumpstart meaningful progress.

Step 3

Intensive sessions typically last around three hours each. With preparation completed beforehand, we can fully dedicate this time to reprocessing, maximizing your potential for progress. We’ll take a few breaks along the way, and I will support you throughout the entire session. After the intensive, it’s important to plan for rest, movement, and a good night’s sleep to integrate the work effectively.

Why I like brainspotting intensives

Brainspotting is an incredibly powerful, research-supported approach for treating acute and complex trauma, recent stressful events, and phobias. However, one of the biggest barriers I see in traditional treatment is the standard 50-minute weekly session. While weekly or bi-weekly therapy works well for many forms of treatment, it often dilutes the full effectiveness of brainspotting.

Clients may come in planning to do brainspotting, but life naturally comes up—there are updates to share, crises to manage, and important weekly experiences that need attention. As a result, brainspotting sometimes doesn’t begin until 15–20 minutes into the session, if we get to it at all. By the time we leave space at the end to regulate and ground, we may only complete about 25 minutes of actual processing. When you add in normal life factors like rescheduled sessions, vacations, shifting goals, or unexpected stressors, brainspotting can easily get pushed aside, and clients don’t receive enough consistent processing to see meaningful change quickly.

Brainspotting intensives help remove these barriers entirely. By immersing yourself in several hours of focused work, you can access deeper processing, create new neural connections more efficiently, and make substantial progress toward your goals in a shorter amount of time. Intensives are especially helpful for people with limited time, or for those who feel ready to dive in and create significant forward movement.
